4月2日オマーン大使館にて総会が開催されました。クラブとしての事務報告に引き続き大川真由子早稲田大学助教によるデイスカバーオマーンシリーズ第２回「オマーンの家庭生活について」の講演がありました。文化人類学者としてオマーン人の家庭に入っての体験や観察、女性の地位について、また都市部と村との違い等について大変興味深い解説がありました。

デイスカバーオマーンシリーズ第３回はオマーン文化の内側にいるオマーン人女性によるデイスカッションを予定しています。どうぞお楽しみに。

The 5th general meeting of Japan Oman Club was held at the Embassy of Oman on April 2nd, 2014. After the meeting, Ms. Mayuko Okawa, assistant professor at Waseda University, gave a lecture titled “Domestic Life in Oman”.

She shared her experiences as a cultural anthropologist and her observations on Omani families and women’s position in Oman. She explained in detail differences between life in a countryside village and urban areas in Oman. She showed the audience the distinctive traditional clothes of the Omani village she studied and explained that costume colors differ from village to village.
